Our Principal Software Engineer II helps coordinate software infrastructure, design, and standards across multiple application team silos. As part of a team reporting directly to the CTO, this person collaborates on the improvement of new and legacy systems towards long-term stability in a growing software ecosystem. Day-to-day interactions involve directing the software design process by coordinating with teams to evaluate their design needs, estimating their costs, and orchestrating quality control throughout the stages of implementation. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, able to demonstrate specialized engineering knowledge and experience in a related industry, whose engineering expertise translates into streamlined and cost-effective processes. Evaluate existing processes and procedures to identify areas that need optimization. Assess the efficiency of technologies, processes, and architecture. Design, build, set up, and improve systems and procedures. Collaborate with the software engineering team on software development. Perform efficient and documented planning, designing, and development across engineering teams. Project the costs and timeframes of projects, as well as create work schedules and set deadlines with Product Owners and Engineering leads. Orchestrate and define standards for quality control and resolve structural design and other issues throughout the implementation stages. Define metrics on product performance during design and create hand off to Product to maintain overall health. Ensure compliance with industry standards. Keep abreast of developments and innovation across Engineering to drive standardization and efficiency. Invest in technical growth of software engineering teams through code reviews, engineering process standardization, tech talks, and mentoring. Requirements 10 years of experience in high level software engineering, preferably in startup environments. 3+ years of experience as a Principal, Senior Principal, Staff Engineer or comparable role in a similar environment. Proficiency in software engineering and project management practices. Extensive knowledge of software engineering processes, structural design, and system optimization. Great organizational and time management skills. Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities. Excellent collaboration and communication skills. Ability to demonstrate compliance with industry standards and regulations. Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field of specialization preferred.
