We are looking for a software multimedia engineer with strong working knowledge in multimedia and graphics Linux systems. We solve media delivery problems at the Edge. Issues range from the time-sensitive delivery of audio channels to separating drivers from workloads across container and VM boundaries. Security is ever-present in today's solutions, resulting in newer architectural challenges. Discussions can stray into mixed-criticality workloads sharing a UI and simply getting a Trusted Execution Environment and other components to play well with Media. The Linaro team works from home and is geographically dispersed. Our engineers are prominent in their field of expertise (kernel, toolchain, security, etc.), which provides a rewarding, challenging work environment with great flexibility. You should expect to drive progress with similarly motivated peers, and opportunity for significant responsibility is not hard to find. You will have to work with multiple upstream communities to resolve issues and be capable of coordinating internally to create PoCs and establish more robust solutions in public and private CI/CD environments. This role will require good experience with industrial standards such as EVC, MPEG2, MPEG4, H.264, H.265, HLS, DASH, and prior roles that exhibited expertise with DRMs like Play ready, WideVine etc The ideal candidate would be familiar with: - Linux media subsystem (v4l2 and media controllers, etc) User space multimedia frameworks such as Gstreamer, FFmpeg, libcamera and Pipewire Open Source Graphics (DRM, KMS, Mesa, Xorg and/or Wayland, virtio-gpu) Experience with Digital Rights Management e.g. Widevine and Playready
